CHS Policy for BioLINCC Publications

as of January 14, 2026

BioLINCC Publications without CHS Investigator* Authorship

Publications arising from BioLINCC data without the involvement of past or current CHS Investigators* as coauthors must include the following disclaimer, either in the text or Acknowledgements:

“This manuscript was prepared using CHS data obtained from the NHLBI Biologic Specimen and Data Repository Information Coordinating Center (BioLINCC) and does not necessarily reflect the opinions or views of the CHS or NHLBI.”

BioLINCC Publications with CHS Investigator* Authorship

BioLINCC papers are not required to undergo review by CHS. However, if a past or current CHS Investigator* coauthors a BioLINCC manuscript, they must submit the final manuscript for review by the CHS Steering Committee. A preceding proposal is not required.

If the Steering Committee approves the manuscript:

  • The authors may include a statement in the publication acknowledging that the manuscript was reviewed and approved for publication by the CHS Steering Committee.
  • The manuscript must include the required CHS Funding Acknowledgment.
  • The manuscript must acknowledge the source of the data with a statement such as the following: “This manuscript was prepared using CHS Research Materials obtained from the NHLBI.”
  • The manuscript will be included in the CHS bibliography.

If the Steering Committee does not approve the manuscript, the CHS investigators must remove themselves from authorship of the paper. If they object, they may appeal to the CHS Executive Committee.

*CHS Investigators are defined as individuals who currently receive CHS main study funds or are a member of a Committee or Chair of a Working Group.
