CHS Verification Policy

As of March 2004, the Coordinating Center will no longer verify analyses in approved penultimate drafts except in the following cases:

    • The Writing Group requests verification and provides the supplemental data and funding to the Coordinating Center. A subcontract agreement to fund the analyses will be established between the requesting organization and the University of Washington.
    • The P&P, Steering Committee or NHLBI requests verification, to be funded by the Coordinating Center.
    • The analyses were conducted locally by an entity intending to seek intellectual property protection, i.e., patent or copyright, or to license any process, aspect or outcome of the study, including copyrightable software. Manuscript and ancillary study proposals must indicate whether or not protection and/or licensing of any intellectual property rights, i.e., patents or copyrights, is intended. Manuscript must also disclose any existing, pending, or intended patents by the coauthors. The Coordinating Center may require that analyses also be performed centrally, depending on the extent of CHS data requested. The entity performing the local analyses must bear the cost of the analysis and/or verification via an agreement between the requesting organization and the University of Washington.
  • The analyses were conducted locally by a for-profit corporation. Manuscript and ancillary study proposals must indicate whether a for-profit corporation is involved. The Coordinating Center may require that analyses also be performed centrally, depending on the extent of CHS data requested. Said corporation must bear the cost of the analysis and/or verification via an agreement between the requesting organization and the University of Washington.

NB: If Verification is required, the first author or analyst must be prepared to send a data file and analysis code to the Coordinating Center in order to facilitate the verification process.
