NHLBI Data Repository (BioLINCC)
A CHS data set from the NHLBI Data Repository is available to researchers outside CHS on CD-ROM via the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute: NHLBI Data Repository. These data have been stripped of any potential identifiers in order to preserve the privacy of our participants. Data are made available 3 years after collection in order to allow CHS investigators and their collaborators time to publish primary results from the study. Data from ancillary studies are submitted to NHLBI no later than 3 years after completion of the ancillary study (or 2 years after the ancillary study data set is finalized for use in publication, whichever comes first). The limited access data may be obtained and used without involvement of CHS investigators; however we strongly encourage researchers interested in our data to contact us regarding collaboration. There are several advantages to collaborating with CHS investigators.
- Our investigators have many years of experience analyzing the data.
- Much research has been published already and more is in the works. Collaborators can work with investigators in their field of interest with assurance that their results are new and will not be duplicated.
- Hundreds of variables have been collected and summary measures defined. Our investigators know what data were collected when, what variables one would want to consider in an analysis, and in general, what is possible to investigate with our data.
- The data set available to CHS investigators and their collaborators is complete and up to date.
- Data collected by Ancillary Studies are available only through collaboration with the investigators.
